Hallo, Ihr konnt auf Deutsch antworten.
I have a 7 year relation with Piega. 7 very good years.
I went from 1) P4L-mk1 stereo, via 2) P4L-mk1 + S3 surround, and 3) P4L-mk2 + P4L-mk1 surround, to 4) P4L-mk2 + P4C-mk2 + P4XS surround. I also bought a 5 year old P2-Ltd for my office. Especially the step from mk1 to mk2 and the buy of the P2-Ltd I liked a lot because of the beautiful sound and the improved resolution. Only the low frequencies and the attack there could be a bit better.
Lately I had some money available and I decided to upgrade to the new T-series. I sold my P4’s. I bought a LINN Exotik pre and Chakra power-amplifiers, and my source is a double modified (with super-clock) Philips SACD-player. Cable are OK.
First I bought TC-50’s. I was shocked. In the demonstration room the TC-50’s sound was beautiful, but in my room there was too much low and there were resonances. I fine-tuned everything even the room itself. The sound was in general very acceptable but it was not possible to get rid of the resonances around 40 Hz and 80 Hz, unless I want to replace my windows and my wood-on-concrete floor. Over 50% of my cd’s made us totally nervous, due to these resonances. I live in a (for Holland) typical large modern house (where many Piega-lovers seem to live). I know some people think you can rid of this problem, but I concluded in my situation that would not be possible without loosing a lot of sound quality or changing my house/room too much.
Happily I could change to TP-5’s. The resonances were greatly gone, but I was shocked again: it was as if the quality of the high frequencies and the resolution was less than my P4L-mk2, in fact it looked as if the TP-5 went all the way back to the quality of the P4L-mk1 or even a bit below. I called a friend and we did a side-by-side test of P4L-mk2 versus TP-5 in stereo. The low was clearly better that in the P4L-mk2, but the overall sound was better for the P4L-mk2, especially the resolution of the high was better.
So for me I spend a lot of money which resulted in a downgrade.
I am desperate.
